First Aid Courses

AoFAQ Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (QCF)

This 18 hour course is delivered over 3 days. It includes hands on practice and an assessment.

Candidates will have to pass the assessment to qualify the course. This course follows the Health & Safety Executives FAW syllabus and on completion of training. Successful candidates should be able to:

  • Achieve all of the EFAW course content plus:
  • Administer first aid to a casualty with:
  • Injuries to bones,
  • muscles and joints,
  • including suspected spinal injuries,
  • Chest injuries,
  • Burns and scalds,
  • Eye injuries,
  • Sudden poisoning,
  • Anaphylactic shock.
  • Recognise the presence of major illness (including heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes) and provide appropriate first aid.

You will need to pass a hands-on and written assessment in order to qualify.

In addition, the HSE now recommends that all First Aiders attend an annual refresher.
